Hi, first of all, thanks for everyone who's favd or Levels or some other picture in my gallery in the recent weeks. I won't attempt to thank each of you separately, so let it be collective.

Last summer saw me sit a lot in the library by myself, transcribing, and using my spare time to paint or practice for marathon. This summer will be an entirely different kettle of academic fish, and I'll get my first real international taste of something called the conference circuit, which apparently takes place every summer as soon as the spring term finishes.

(And the same instances that do not wish to fund my research full time, do seem to have some ready travel money available, applicable and grantable...)

The first one takes place this week in Ascona, southern Switzerland, near the Italian border, and will feature Ville, Sam and me giving a poster presentation to a corpus linguist crowd on our Digital Editions for Corpus Linguistics project. We will have joint accomodation with 6 grad students from the uni of Helsinki, sharing some kind of appartment which they asked us to take, since they didn't have hotel rooms for everyone - and it might be fun.

I'll also upload a tree painting I did as background for our poster.
